Terms of Service

What Burt is
Burt is an AI intake platform for law firms: an embeddable chat widget, text messaging, and phone intake that talk with prospective clients on your firm’s behalf, collect the details and evidence of their matter, and deliver qualified case packets to your team. By creating a firm account you agree to these terms on behalf of your firm.
Your account
- You’re responsible for the accuracy of your firm’s configuration — the states you serve, the practice areas you accept, your disclosure language, and the websites you authorize.
- Keep your team’s credentials secure. Actions taken by your authorized users are your firm’s actions.
- Burt is for law firms and legal-intake use. Don’t use it to send spam, harvest data from people who didn’t contact your firm, or violate the rules of professional conduct that govern you.
Billing
- The service is $99 per month plus $50 per qualified case packet, billed monthly in arrears. Founding Client accounts have case fees capped at $500 per month for their first three billing periods.
- A packet bills only when it meets the qualification criteria shown in your dashboard. Spam, solicitors, wrong numbers, and duplicate claimants are never billed.
- You may dispute any billed packet from your billing page within the review window. Upheld disputes are credited to your account balance on a following invoice.
- The service is month to month; there is no setup fee.
Your data
Intake conversations, packets, and evidence collected through your widget and phone lines belong to your firm. We process them to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export your firm’s data and honor claimant deletion requests from your dashboard.
Not legal advice
Burt collects and organizes intake information; it is not a lawyer and does not provide legal advice to you or to the people it talks with. Your firm remains responsible for the attorney-client relationship, conflicts checking, engagement decisions, and compliance with the ethics rules of your jurisdictions — including how AI intake is disclosed to prospective clients.
Service quality
We work hard to keep Burt fast, available, and accurate, and we build in safeguards — but no AI system is perfect and no service is uninterrupted. The service is provided “as is,” and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts your firm paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including the value of any prospective case.
Ending the service
You may stop using Burt at any time; you remain responsible for fees already incurred. We may suspend or end service for non-payment or material breach of these terms. On termination you can export your firm’s data.
Changes and contact
If these terms change materially, we’ll update the date above and notify account owners. Questions: hello@hiburt.com.
